Nominerad till Academic All-American!
Central Islip, NY - Senior defender, Patrick Cunningham and sophomore defender Henrik Karlsson have been named to the 2008 Men's Soccer Academic All-District First Team presented by ESPN The Magazine and CoSIDA.
A native of Vasteras, Sweden, Karlsson is a standout in the classroom compiling a 4.0 GPA in general studies. On the field he has played in all 17 games and has two goals, including a game winning tally, and three assists. He continues to be a vital part of the Purple Knights defense as they head into the postseason.
Majoring in accounting, Cunningham boasts a 3.92 GPA and has been recognized on the Dean's List and the Athletic Honor Roll. A member of the 2006 National Championship team, he helps to anchor the backline which has allowed only 8 goals and 36 shots on goal this season.

Four UB Soccer Players Honored With Academic All-District Selections
"Two UB student-athletes, sophomore defender Henrik Karlsson, a general studies major from Vasteras, Sweden, and junior forward Sofia Hoflin, a graphic design major from Ostersund, Sweden, from the women's team was named First Team Academic All-District. Both Karlsson and Hoflin now move onto the National Men's and Women's Soccer Academic All-America ballots from which a First, Second and Third National Academic All-America Teams for soccer will be selected. Last season, Sofia Hoflin was named Second Team Academic All-District."
